Janet & Simon’s Wedding

Posted under News

This weekend we had the privilege of attending the wedding of our friend Janet to her new husband, Simon, held at the nearby village of Aylesham. Unfortunately, the day was not the best of weather with gale force winds and torrential rain outside but the church and hall was warm and cosy. The reception was held in Chilham town hall, again near Canterbury, where we were treated to some fireworks and a surprisingly good crooner doing covers of Elvis and Sinatra. All the best Simon & Janet.

Post script: forgot to mention they went on honeymoon to Morocco. I do hope they stay away from the Berber tea!

Car Crash

Posted under News

A week ago I crashed the Nissan while onto the way into work. No injuries fortunately for either person but it is still annoying that I managed to crash the car for the first time (and hopefully the only) in 14 years. The Nissan, sadly, is a write off – £2000 worth of repairs to a £500 car makes it not economical to fix. Welcome to the throw away society of the noughties :(.

So, on Friday I bought a replacement car, a Volvo S40 T4 1.9 Turbo. I can’t say with hand on heart its the best car in the world, nor can I say I particularly wanted to become a “Volvo driver” but here I am with hat on head and tartan rug in the boot accelerating towards middle age. Is it time for a crisis yet (and not in a Lady Chatterly way either  :D )?
